How to Take Part in the Promotion Giveaway for:

(Promotion Runs 8-27 to 9-24 2018)

This fall, we are offering our online class "An Introduction to the Practical Side and the Mysteries of Line-editing" starting September 26. To get the word out about all of our classes, we use our email newsletter, Facebook and Twitter posts, but we find our reach is not as wide as we would like. This class is an exciting new direction for us, and is unlike any other course we know. So we want to do more, to make sure we let as many people as possible know about it. We are offering this promotion giveaway as a result.

Here's the basic idea: you promote the webinar on social media and we'll enter you in a drawing for prizes. We have books as weekly prizes and a grand prize...

The Prizes

What are the prizes? Here are the weekly prizes:
August 27 - September 2 -- Self-Editing for Fiction Writers: a great introduction to self-editing, with considerable amounts of help at the line-editing level.

September 3 - September 9 -- A Dash of Style: focused help with punctuation.

September 10 - September 16 -- The Magic Words: Cheryl Klein's great guide to writing and editing, with one chapter entirely devoted to line-editing.

September 17 - September 23 -- Real Revision: Kate Messner's general guide to revision.

The grand prize: In addition to the weekly winners, all participants will be entered in a final grand prize drawing. The winners will be entitled to take either the "An Introduction to the Practical Side and the Mysteries of Line-editing" webinar, or our next revision-related webinar, at no charge; OR to get a $150 discount on next year's Revision Retreat at Highlights; OR to get a $150 discount from one of us on a line-editing project. If you win and don't want to use the prize yourself, you can transfer it to someone else.

How It Works

The basic idea is simple: You make a public post about the course on social media, with a link to the information and sign-up page, and you get an entry in the giveaway drawing. The post can also be a share or a retweet of one of our posts, but please note that a retweet or share of this page does not qualify.

We don't want to miss your post, so you also need to make sure that we see it. Facebook shares or Twitter retweets should be visible to us. On Facebook, you can also tag one of us (Eileen Robinson or Harold Underdown) in your post. On Twitter, if you aren't RTing, use the hashtag #KBRlineediting as part of your post. If you post elsewhere, such as on Instagram or Tumblr, please find some other way to let us know. Posts from now through September 24 qualify.

The fine print: One post equals one entry. If you want to post once a day, or a similar more sedate schedule, we're fine with that. We will use our discretion in awarding bonus entries for creativity, or for posts that go viral, or that otherwise attract discussion. We will also use our discretion in deciding what doesn't qualify as an entry--if you auto-post on Twitter every hour for a day, for example, we won't give you 24 entries for your efforts. That's overkill, and might annoy people. Posts on social media accounts with few followers or that seem to exist only for contest entries will also be excluded. Those two examples aren't the only possible problems, just examples, but rest assured that we want to reward people making a genuine effort to spread the word about the course.

Thank you for taking part!
